Chuck’s Deli, Taguig City

One great thing about working at Bonifacio High Street is the easy access to all the good restaurants at the Fort Strip, along High Street itself, at Serendra, and at the open-air food court of Market! Market! Sometimes, we get the feeling that despite having been here for quite some time now, we still have much to discover, and such was the case with Chuck’s Deli, a small little sandwich place located at the ground floor of Serendra facing Market! Market!

Carlos swore they serve great sandwiches there, so one lunch break, we all decided to give the deli a try. He led the way with an order of The Reuben (Php 495: one slab): a huge slabwich (as per their definition, “a massive slab of sandwich of two ten-inch long slabs of homemade, crunch toasted ciabatta” plus the ingredients) of Angus corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, mustard, and a killer sauce they simply call “Chuck’s sauce.”

Marcelle ordered a safe Cheese and Broccoli Soup and coupled it with a tasty-looking Philly Blues: beef, blue cheese, onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers. Trixie’s Handsome Threesome (Php 345: one slab) collects three kinds of ham (beer, Canadian, and black forest) and slaps them into Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and Chuck’s sauce.

Denise and I split a full slab of The Pilgrim (Php 445: one slab), basically turkey meat, stuffing, cranberry jelly, and gravy. It was an awesome (and very filling) treat: the meat was tender, the gravy complemented it nicely, and the cranberry jelly was a nice touch, just the right tinge of cranberry with every other bite.

I guess it’s true: Chuck’s Deli is indeed one great slabwich joint for the hungry lunch crowd at the Bonifacio Global City area. I’ll definitely be back!

Update: 27 January 2011. And back I was when I split a slab of The Buffy (Php 445: one slab) with my officemate, Marcelle. It’s a long sandwich of mildly spicy buffalo chicken with garlic sauce; it does well on its own (even without Chuck’s sauce), and I can easily say I liked it better than The Pilgrim.
