Muji, Taguig City
After all the talk and excitement about Muji opening their first Metro Manila branch in October 2010, the store has now become one of the landmark retail destinations in Bonifacio High Street (Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City). Located just above the Gap store across the ever-popular restaurant and residential Serendra block, Muji offers shoppers something most other stores wouldn’t: unbranded merchandise.
It’s what it’s most known for: Muji offers no-brand items at reasonable prices and with a seemingly coherent minimalist look, primarily toying with shades of black, white, and wood. They sell apparel, accessories, furniture, office supplies, and even food; in an aesthetic sense, all these products appeal to shoppers by virtue of look and function as well as the simplicity of the store experience, not by the name of the brand as we are all used to.

I’ve personally bought a few shirts from Muji and found them reliable, basic, and thus easy to wear with other articles of clothing. The minimalist theme that Muji enforces reflects in the looks of the clothes they sell (including those for women): plains, stripes, and checkers in three colors at the most define the bulk of what they have on their racks. The same applies to footwear, bags, and even towels and pillow covers.

Home designers should find their furniture and kitchenware offerings appealing: with the simplicity of their items, I personally think Muji is bound to have something for everyone. Yes, everything you’d find here are almost devoid of intricacy and design, but as we all know, function is most important and that’s what they offer first and foremost.

If you want a minimalist theme at home, then consider Muji your shopping heaven. If not, then complete your complementing and basic, functional pieces here before shopping for identifying items elsewhere.

For the most basic answers to your housekeeping and apparel needs, check out Muji. It’s that simple.
